Atlas Shrugged (Chambers) |
Story Behind The
Song |
|
Shouting and jumping and turning around, she was Leaping and laughing and dancing about And he watched her uncertain if this was real life In his melancholy shell, he was straing to hold his head high. Well he needed her to bring him some better days uncaught And he wanted her to show him that all was not lost He prayed she would notice him amidst her happiness (He) remained behind a tree, an eye peeking above Atlas Shrugged. Fearing, revealing, and frowning about, he was Hoping and crying, and living without, As he watched her, he wished he could live so carefree, And he ruffled the pages, he longed to meet her eye. He had watched her for many a day and a night Guiltily following her every move back again He prayed she would notice him amidst his loneliness (He) remained behind a tree, an eye peeking above Atlas Shrugged. Watching him, watching her, sighing about She was drawn to the sensitive visage somehow And she paused in her twirling and bounded toward him As if sensing his need, saw him straining to meet her eye. And she held out her hand which he carefully took And she pulled him upright before he could sit down again Held him with both arms and forced him to turn And a smile came to his face, as he left far behind Atlas Shrugged. I wrote
this song while sitting in an old house in North Carolina, adjusting to a month in 108 degree heat.
I had read Atlas Shrugged for an English class, not realizing that it was well over 1100 pages. In the end,
I loved the book, and even got a song out of it. A story of a boy beat down by life and the girl who saves him. Not a bad ending, huh? |
