Story Behind The

Beyond the walls, someone hides from violence In touch, it seems, with nothing more than isolation Confirm the truth, this understanding lost to those in power Who knows just where to begin And some fall down, pretend to look the other way As if no one noticed the gaffe, a misdirection We fall asleep each night in a land divided, divided by idealogues We wake up to the sunrise the same, to the sunrise the same And those who speak of this unity, merely want a blank check to carry out elite instructions And you and I are questioned of our loyalty Election year, all present achievements Take credit from the broken backs of those who work Raise red flags high, distinguishing from opposition And tell such tales of modern woe The populace informed in a few soundbytes As if noone noticed the spin that drives the day We fall asleep each night in a land divided, divided by idealogues We wake up to the sunrise the same, to the sunrise the same And those who speak of this unity, merely want a blank check to carry out elite instructions And you and I are questioned of our loyalty We fall asleep each night in a land divided, divided by idealogues We wake up to the sunrise the same, to the sunrise the same And those who speak of this unity, merely want a blank check to carry out elite instructions And you and I are questioned of our loyalty Copyright 2005 LHH songs |
I'd like to think that this song will someday be out of date. The notion that no matter what your political affiliation is,
more and more politicians seem to be playing the games of spinning and negative attacks. It's tough to accept the politics of division. We should be able to do better. In the meantime, though, this song seems pretty accurate. |
