I Drive (Chambers)

Story Behind The Song

Turn the key, rev the engine

Pull out onto the road, nothing on the pike

I can see it for miles-this wide open space

The horizon ahead, as far as I see

Pass the last service station, for 100 miles or more

No cars seen in the rearview, uninterrupted plains

And my mind starts to wander, I have just the

Barest concentration to keep along the yellow line

The four wheels in a heavenly rhythm they glide

On the radio, a beat of perfection, I sing

Leave behind all the endless aggravation

I drive, I drive, I drive...

Jumbled metaphors, images flow through my brain

Gift horses lying on a bed of nails, breaking chains

If there's a deeper meaning, I haven't found it yet

Just clouds of thoughts in the atmosphere, well…

The four wheels in a heavenly rhythm they glide

On the radio, a beat of perfection, I sing

Leave behind all the endless aggravation

I drive, I drive, I drive...

Cold wind through my hair, how I feel alive

I could travel as long as the gas tank lasts

How I wish that life was so simple

An endless road to navigate without twists and turns…

The four wheels in a heavenly rhythm they glide

On the radio, a beat of perfection, I sing

Leave behind all the endless aggravation

I drive, I drive, I drive...

Every band needs a driving song. Even though I'm not the biggest fan of aimless cruising, I can appreciate the peacefulness of highway driving with a kick-ass song on the radio. Wouldn't it be cool if this song was that song? Would that be too existential?
