Phone Call (Chambers) |
Story Behind The
Song |
|
I've got a phone call to make today Reach out to futures perhaps I bask in sunny weather Even though rain continues to fall Traipse through the gardens left and right Statues of glory days again Greek gods in stunning clarity In this mood I stand in their place And you're the reason My mind is glowing You have changed me Brought me to a wondrous place It's a scary thing to dive right on With complicated circumstance I'd never ask you to sacrifice Give up the magic that lives in your eyes I can be patient No timer ticking out There's something deeper I will give this endless time I'm looking for tomorrow The sun is shining bright The fear gets thrown away As long as you will take my hand Dreaming of you I never want to awake This dopey smile comes flowing free And all is before I've sunk my heart, my head And embraced this certainty I'm looking for tomorrow The sun is shining bright The fear gets thrown away As long as you will take my hand Copyright 2003 LHH songs |
Sometimes, it just takes a blizzard to get one's
creative juices flowing. I wrote the majority of this song in about an hour, during the February storm that saw some two feet of snow pile up in DC over the course of 24 hours.
It's a happy one about the excitement of finding someone you really like, coupled with
the nervous energy of psyching yourself up to pick up that phone and make the first call. You start to daydream about what it might be like, and have that first conversation a hundred times in your head before you ever dial. At least I do...
