Unrequited Like (Chambers)

Story Behind The Song

Several years consumed with thoughts of her

Now at last I'm moving on, a new star has shown up in my sky

Angel so sweet and beautiful, the more time I see I'm hooked

Not in love, but ready and able to be

And I know my time is at an end,

She moves on and I must start again

Haven't got the chance to say a thing,

Before she boards the plane

Call her up but stopped by circumstance, an old friend, a past romance

Unrequited like is hard to have

Know I've got some words to say to her, holding in my head these days

But the thoughts remain upon my tongue

And I know my time is at an end,

She moves on and I must start again

Haven't got the chance to say a thing,

Before she boards the plane

And I'm ready to speak, to open up to what my heart is feeling

Want to know what the response would be if I could have the chance

Have a million reasons just to close the door, nothing lost

Still I want to close the door my way...

And I know my time is at an end,

She moves on and I must start again

Haven't got the chance to say a thing,

Before she boards the plane

And I know my time is at an end,

She moves on and I must start again

Haven't got the chance to say a thing,

Before she boards the plane

This song is as literal a translation of an experience in my life as any that I've written into song. Perhaps others have had the experience of finding someone for such a short time that after they're gone, you wish you had more time to spend with them. Not quite love, but certainly unrequited.
